The SWAN Fellowship is a hands-on leadership experience for students and emerging professionals who want to create meaningful change in their communities.

More than an internship, SWAN is a training-based fellowship where you'll develop practical skills, work on real projects, and collaborate with professionals committed to healing-centered, culturally responsive community work.

While rooted in social work values, SWAN welcomes students and emerging professionals from a variety of disciplines who believe healthier individuals create healthier organizations—and healthier organizations create healthier communities.

Choose Your Fellowship Track

Program Development & Clinical Track

Perfect for students interested in mental health, community programming, education, nonprofit leadership, social work, counseling, psychology, public health, youth development or policy.

Fellows in this track help transform evidence-based ideas into engaging, healing-centered experiences for the community.

Fellows may:

  • Assist with developing new workshops, curricula, and community programs

  • Research evidence-based interventions and translate them into engaging, accessible programming

  • Co-facilitate support groups, workshops, and healing-centered events

  • Learn how to facilitate meaningful community conversations

  • Support program planning, implementation, and evaluation

  • Gain exposure to trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and transformative justice frameworks

  • Develop leadership, facilitation, and community engagement skills

This track is ideal for those who want experience designing programs that people genuinely enjoy participating in—not simply delivering services.

Marketing & Communications Track

Perfect for students interested in communications, marketing, public relations, branding, journalism, digital media, graphic design, or business.

Fellows in this track help tell The Stand's story while expanding access to healing-centered resources and programming.

Fellows may:

  • Manage and grow The Stand's social media presence

  • Brainstorm and execute creative content ideas

  • Capture and edit photo and video content

  • Support branding and visual storytelling

  • Assist with marketing campaigns and community outreach

  • Help promote workshops, partnerships, and events

  • Develop strategies that increase community engagement and organizational impact

This track provides hands-on experience using storytelling and communication as tools for social change.
